The year 2021 is a time loop movie. It’s the same day, over and over again. What movies will be on this list?
Time Loop Movies is a movie that will be released in 2021. This movie will follow the same day over and over again.
Do you like films in which one or more characters relive the same day again and over? You’ve come to the correct spot! Films in this manner have been produced in a variety of genres, including horror, drama, action, romance, comedy, and more. Loopers usually have no control over the looping time and simply remember the events of past loops, allowing for a lot of creativity in implementation. The ultimate list of the greatest time loop movies of all time can be found here.

I’m Going to Fall (2017)
Before I Fall is an adolescent drama about a girl who is trapped in an unending loop of the same day following a horrific automobile accident. Nothing she does seems to have an impact on her daily time loop, but each loop serves as a wake-up call regarding her life and relationships. The film is based on the same-named book, and both are very fascinating. However, the conclusion might have done more to emphasize the film’s central theme.
El Ascensor | The Lift (2021)
The Lift is a Mexican Spanish time loop film about a couple who are in the middle of an argument when they enter an elevator. The journey in the lift repeats itself in what seems to be an unending loop as they drop to the lowest level. Given that the looping is ascribed to more than simply destiny, the film might have been so much better. The revelation, on the other hand, isn’t very exciting, and the film concludes with the viewer thinking, “umm… so what?” The Lift is Daniel Bernal’s debut feature film; perhaps, things will improve from here.
Repeaters are a kind of repeater that is (2010)
Three prisoners at a recovery center begin experiencing the same day over and over again. They consider themselves fortunate to be allowed to do anything they want without consequence for a change. While everything seems to be great at first, the irresponsibility of their acts starts to stab at the consciences of two of them, while the third finds himself in a state of ecstasy. The main reason for their disagreement isn’t very compelling; as one of the characters puts it, “it’s hypocritical.” However, the film is enjoyable to see just once.
Naked Naked Naked Naked Naked Naked Naked Naked Naked N (2017)
Nude is a Hollywood adaptation of the Swedish film Naken, which tells the story of a guy who wakes up naked inside an elevator with no memory of how he got there. He’s not stuck in the elevator; in fact, he has to exit into a hotel lobby to begin finding out what went wrong. He returns to the floor of the elevator, butt-naked, after just one hour. Then there’s the fact that it’s his wedding day! Marlon Wayans stars in the Hollywood version, and there’s plenty going on to keep you entertained. It has the typical romance film tropes of a non-committal guy and a supporting fiancée, but then again, that is the film’s genre.
The Map Of Perfectly Tiny Things (2021)
The Map Of Tiny Perfect Things is a romantic comedy about a man and a woman who are trapped in a daily cycle. The opening scene is fantastic, and the rest of the film is as light as air. The loops are essentially a metaphor for being trapped at a particular point in life. The chemistry between Kathryn Newton and Kyle Allen is fantastic, and the film is well-made. They attempt to include some scientific aspects into the video to explain the looping, which I have described here – The Map Of Tiny Perfect Things explained.
Minesweeper (2012)
Mine Games follows a group of friends who are celebrating their college graduation by going to a lodge for the weekend. Aren’t you aware that this isn’t going to end well? The good news is that it isn’t a storyline involving a random crazy murderer or ghoul bent on annihilating this bunch. When the group explores a neighboring mine, they see an Ouroboros (a snake that eats its own tail) painted on the walls. I believe you understand what this implies; I won’t say anything more to prevent spoilers. The idea and execution are both excellent, although the premise suggests that the main characters might have had more background.
a hunter (2013)
The film Haunter tells the story of a girl who always wakes up on the same day, the day before her birthday. The film starts in the midst of one of her never-ending cycles, when she has had enough of repeating the same day. Soon after, she discovers a hidden door in the basement, which she unlocks, and following loops get more disturbing, with apparitions of deceased girls and a lanky old man tormenting her. Despite her concerns, she persists in her search for the cause for her imprisonment. The time loop film blends nicely with the horror genre, providing a fresh viewpoint.
Level of the Boss (2021)
Boss Level is a high-octane, all-out action time loop film starring Frank Grillo and Mel Gibson as the antagonists. The film begins with the protagonist dying in hundreds of loops due to assassins chasing him down and ripping him to shreds in a city full of them. Then we’re shown previous cycles to put what’s been going on in perspective. The film has many laugh-out-loud moments and maintains your attention throughout. The reason for the looping is revealed towards the conclusion, although it is not the film’s main attraction.
12:01 pm (1993)
The film 12:01 is based on the novel of the same name. It’s one of the first books to experiment with brief time loops. While the protagonist is trapped in a one-hour time loop in the novel, he is trapped in a day-long loop in the film adaptation as he attempts to prevent the murder of a coworker he likes. It’s an entertaining flick that gradually reveals the mysteries of the time-trap. The filmmakers accused another famous picture from the same year of plagiarism. Do you want to guess which one it is? Movies about Death Day (2017, 2019)
Happy Death Day 1 and 2 are dark-comedic criminal thrillers with time loops starring Jessica Rothe. The film follows a college student who is stalked and murdered by a masked assailant. She wakes up at the start of the day after each death, only to be murdered all over again. She meets a geeky guy who assists her in identifying her assailant. In the second half of the film, she relives the same day, but in a different world. The sequel is well-made, but it lacks the original’s originality. Here’s how it works: Happy Death Day explained in loops.
Groundhog Day is celebrated on February 2nd each year (1993)
Groundhog Day is a humorous film that follows Bill Murray as he relives the same day over and over again. It’s a light romantic comedy about the importance of time. While the protagonist first utilizes his loop to get closer to the woman he loves, he ultimately learns the value of time and sets out to improve himself. Groundhog Day is widely regarded as the mother of all time loop flicks. Here’s a fun fact: it’s not true. The producers of 12:01 filed a plagiarism suit against the picture, but the company was too powerful to defeat the plaintiff. Groundhog Day, on the other hand, was much superior in terms of execution.
Palm Springs is a city in the state of California (2020)
Palm Springs is a romantic comedy set in an infinite loop of time. A man attending a wedding celebration wanders off to a nearby cave, where he discovers a wormhole that locks him in an endless time loop. He is subsequently inadvertently joined by another lady, and the two of them attempt to escape the time-trap together. Andy Samberg, Cristin Milioti, and J K Simmons play the major characters in the cast. The film assumes that the audience is familiar with the subgenre, since it starts with the protagonist having previously gone through thousands of loops. To learn more, go here – The Dinosaurs and Palm Springs are explained.
Backwards in time (1997)
Retroactive is a 1990s film that does a great job with the time loop idea. A hostage negotiator crashes into a signboard while preoccupied by a recent failure, as the tale starts. She eventually accepts a ride from a passing couple, and her subsequent involvement in the events that follow leads things to spin out of control. A scientist working on a particle accelerator succeeds in transporting a mouse back in time by ten minutes at the same moment. You can see where this is headed. Retroactive is a fast-paced action flick with a satisfying conclusion.
ARQ (Arrival Request) (2016)
ARQ is a lesser-known science fiction film about a group of individuals who want to get their hands on a strange gadget that traps them in a series of loops. ARQ stands apart from the crowd of time loop movies because of the conditions in which a person recalls memories from earlier cycles. Despite the fact that there are just a few people, the film manages to cram an amazing narrative into the numerous loops. More information about ARQ may be found here.
Tomorrow’s Edge (2014)
In this high-octane sci-fi action film, Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt bring the Japanese novel All You Need Is Kill to life. An extraterrestrial race with a special power has launched an assault on Earth. Extraterrestrials are linked together in a network of minds that can transmit data back in time. When the lead is inadvertently connected to this extraterrestrial network, he starts to revert to the same moment in time each time he dies. To be honest, the book provides a bit more background on the aliens and what they’re doing to on Earth, and the conclusion is a little more severe. All the information may be found here: Edge Of Tomorrow movie versus book.
Ha-roo | Ha-roo | Ha-roo | Ha-roo (2017)
A Day (Ha-roo) is a Korean time loop thriller about a doctor who keeps wakes up to watch his daughter die in a car accident. The video shifts gears and begins to show the loops’ complex structure. The actors has done an outstanding job in their respective parts in bringing the film together. The background is wonderfully presented, and the cause for the apparently unavoidable tragedy is gradually revealed over the course of the many cycles. More information on A Day may be found here – A Day explained.
Punches of blood (2014)
Blood Punch is a must-see film in this category, despite its obscurity. The plot revolves on three individuals who go to a remote home to manufacture meth. When they attempt to double-cross each other, all hell breaks loose. In comparison to previous time loop movies, the loops operate significantly differently, particularly in terms of who recalls what in future cycles. Olivia Tennet, Milo Cawthorne, and Ari Boyland are three key characters that excel in their positions. Here’s all you need to know about Blood Punch.
Original Source Code (2011)
In the source code, one man’s consciousness is relieved during an eight-minute train simulation in the hopes of locating a bomber. While the train has already been exploded, the crew is trying to figure out who the bomber is in order to prevent him from launching another assault. The task seems simple at first, but as the loops continue, Source Code reveals intricacies and secrets layer by layer. Jake Gyllenhaal is the one who chooses unconventional films like this, and he does a fantastic job alongside Michelle Monaghan and Vera Farmiga in supporting parts. Full information may be found here: Source Code Explained.
triangle triangle triangle triangle triangle triangle triangle triangle triangle (2009)
With many overlapping cycles, Triangle is probably the most complex of all time loop movies. It takes a few viewings to properly appreciate the subtleties of this excellent thriller. Melissa George, who you may recognize from the film Mulholland Drive, shines well in this one. The story of Triangle revolves on a group of friends who embark on a boat trip and get separated at sea. A liner comes to their rescue, but it seems to be unattended. I can’t say much more without giving anything away about the plot, but you must see this incredible film. Check out this post for a loop-by-loop analysis of the Triangle movie – Triangle movie explained.
Are you perplexed as to why your other favorite movies aren’t included on this list?
Time Loop movies are not the same as Causal Loop films like Timecrimes, Predestination, or Looper, which are more general time-travel flicks and therefore aren’t included in this list.
Run Rola Run, a fan favorite, isn’t included since it’s three renditions of an event rather than a person living in a loop with collecting memories. For similar reasons, other important films such as The Fare do not make the list.
